With procurement activities already more than 50% complete, the successful candidate will play a critical role in driving the final stages of procurement, closing out commercial matters, and ensuring robust project controls are maintained across multiple projects.
Reporting into senior project leadership, you will lead the commercial function, provide mentoring and direction to the commercial team, and work closely with project delivery personnel, clients, and subcontractors to achieve successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of projects from procurement through to completion.
- Drive the final phase of procurement activities and ensure timely close-out of outstanding packages.
- Manage the resolution and close-out of provisional sums, variations, and commercial claims both:
- Upstream with clients; and
- Downstream with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare and maintain monthly cost reports, forecasts, commercial registers, risk and opportunity registers, and client reporting requirements.
- Establish and manage project budgets and commercial controls.
- Utilise Jobpac to administer project financials, reporting, forecasting, and cost management activities.
- Support multiple projects concurrently, including the setup of new projects and budgets within Jobpac.
- Provide strong commercial leadership while remaining actively involved in detailed commercial matters when required.
- Lead, mentor, and develop commercial team members to drive accountability and performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
- Set the standard for commercial excellence and ensure key deliverables are achieved in line with project and business objectives.

Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Commercial role within construction, infrastructure, engineering, or major projects.
- Strong contract administration and commercial management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage procurement activities and contract close-outs.
- Extensive experience managing variations, claims, provisional sums, and subcontractor accounts.
- Advanced commercial reporting, forecasting, and cost-control capability.
- Strong working knowledge of Jobpac .
- Experience establishing projects, budgets, and reporting frameworks within Jobpac.
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing commercial teams.
