Director

Paul Gay is the Founder and Director of Foundation Recruitment and Foundation Contracting, with more than 30 years’ experience in recruitment and workforce services.

Paul established Foundation Recruitment in 2007, building the business around permanent recruitment within the built environment. From the outset, the focus was on quality appointments, long‑term outcomes, and working closely with clients to understand both technical requirements and team fit. Over time, Foundation Recruitment developed a strong reputation across construction, infrastructure, engineering and project‑based roles.

As client needs changed and project demands became more workforce‑driven, Paul founded Foundation Contracting in 2019 to support labour hire and on‑hire requirements. The addition of Foundation Contracting allowed the business to provide practical, flexible workforce solutions while maintaining the same standards, controls and accountability that Foundation Recruitment was known for.

Today, the two businesses operate together, providing end‑to‑end recruitment and workforce solutions across construction, civil, infrastructure, mining and government sectors. Foundation Recruitment continues to focus on permanent and fixed‑term appointments, while Foundation Contracting delivers labour hire solutions across Queensland and the Northern Territory.

As Director, Paul remains hands‑on across both businesses. He divides his time between our Northern Territory and Queensland offices, he stays closely involved with key clients and projects, and takes responsibility for how the business operates day to day. From recruitment decisions to labour hire compliance, Paul maintains oversight to ensure consistency, reliability and strong outcomes.

Paul leads the business with a straightforward approach, clear processes, honest conversations, and long‑term partnerships over short‑term wins. It’s a mindset that continues to guide how Foundation works with clients, candidates and contractors alike.

At its core, Foundation operates on the principle of “Business by Choice”, working with clients and projects that align with the company’s values and allow the team to deliver outcomes they’re proud to stand behind.

Personally, Paul is a proud father of two teenagers and contributes back to the community via coaching and sponsoring their junior AFL teams, respectively.
