Foundation Recruitment is proud to have partnered with a Construction Company based in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Our client prides themselves on being an integral part of PNG’s industrial development. Renowned as PNG's premier building company, our client specialises in civil infrastructure, commercial construction, steel fabrication, and motor transport engineering.

They are currently seeking a  Commercial Manager  who is ready to relocate and work in PNG.

This position will see you based in Lae, Papua New Guinea. This is not a FIFO position and will require you to relocate to PNG. (relocation assistance provided)

You will be provided with:

The role:
  • Supervise the estimating and claims functions of the building division. With approx. 6-8 Estimators & contract admin as direct reports.
  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of tenders, EOIs, D&C, and ECI proposals.
  • Supervise the preparation and status tracking of progress claims.
  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of Variation Order proposals, Latent Conditions claims, and, in collaboration with the Building Division Planner, EOT and prolongation claims.
  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of estimates to support HNGI's entitlement to damages under law or contract, as advised by the Building Division Manager and Corporate Counsel.
  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of all relevant documentation to support these activities.
In relation to overseeing the purchasing functions, up-front purchasing is typically to be a PM-led function, however once the delivery team is mobilized, invariably there are sometimes further purchasing requirements that the site-based PMs need assistance with.

Skills & experience:
  • Proven experience in a commercial manager role within the construction industry.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, CostX/Timberline or other estimating software.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods.
  • Ability to forecast productivity and costs accurately.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Ability to lead by example and effectively supervise and mentor subordinates.
