We are seeking a reliable and safety‑focused Maintenance Assistant to support day‑to‑day operations at a local business. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on work, contributing to a multi‑disciplined team, and helping maintain critical generation assets that power the Northern Territory.
About the Role
The Maintenance Assistant provides essential support to trades and operational staff, helping ensure the safe, efficient and reliable operation of plant and equipment. You will work across a range of routine maintenance tasks, inspections, and site support activities while upholding Territory Generation's safety, environmental and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist trades personnel with routine inspections, minor isolations, lubrication, testing and basic fault identification
- Maintain cleanliness of plant, equipment and vehicles
- Collect and deliver spare parts within the Darwin region
- Support trades and non‑trade staff as required
- Communicate effectively with operators, planners, electrical staff, contractors and other stakeholders
- Use computerised systems for reporting and task management
- Work in accordance with Territory Generation's safety, environmental and quality policies and corporate values
Essential Criteria
- Experience providing general assistance to trades or operational staff
- Strong understanding of workplace safety and commitment to safe work practices
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team
- Ability to work within a Permit to Work system and operate safely with minimal supervision
- Competent computer skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to plan and organise daily tasks
- Ability to obtain an NT driver's licence
- Commitment to Territory Generation's safety, environmental and quality standards
Desirable Criteria
- Forklift licence, overhead crane licence or MR licence
- Confined space training (or willingness to undertake training)
- Basic welding skills
