The Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Process Plant Operator to join our Darwin team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our processing plant, ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and quality standards. You will play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly and contributing to our mission of sustainable resource recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor refinery power plant systems including boilers, steam and gas turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment from field and control room to ensure safe and continuous power generation.
- Conduct regular field rounds to inspect rotating and static equipment such as pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and cooling systems, identifying abnormal conditions (vibration, noise, leaks, temperature, pressure).
- Start up, shut down, and line up power plant equipment in accordance with operating procedures, permits, and refinery operating standards.
- Monitor process parameters, alarms, and interlocks, taking corrective action to maintain stable and efficient plant operation.
- Log operational data, equipment status, and abnormal events accurately in shift logs and computerized systems.
- Coordinate closely with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams during maintenance, troubleshooting, and breakdown activities.
- Ensure strict compliance with refinery HSE requirements, including lockout/tagout, permit-to-work, confined space entry, and emergency response procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and incident investigations to promote safe and reliable plant operations.
- PMA30120 Certificate III in Process Plant Operations (highly desirable)
- Proven experience as a Process Plant Operator, preferably in waste management, recycling, or a similar industrial environment.
- Current Working at Heights , Confined Space , and Forklift tickets are highly sought after.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate plant machinery safely.
- Sound understanding of WHS regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
- Ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays if required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with automated plant systems and process control software.
