An established Australian Tier 3 defence contractor is seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to support the delivery of a growing pipeline of Defence projects in Townsville.
The contractor delivers construction, refurbishment, civil and facilities works across the Defence estate, with projects generally ranging from $500K to $5M. Its portfolio includes Defence accommodation refurbishments, facility upgrades, training area compliance works, civil infrastructure and maintenance projects across Queensland.
The successful candidate will have defence experience and take responsibility for day-to-day site delivery, working closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, trades and Defence stakeholders.
The Role
You will oversee site activities from mobilisation through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule and to the required quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervise day-to-day construction and project activities on Defence sites.
- Coordinate subcontractors, trades, suppliers and site resources.
- Manage site sequencing, productivity, quality and progress.
- Ensure works comply with project plans, specifications, WHS and Defence requirements.
- Coordinate site inductions, access, permits and documentation.
- Identify and manage site issues, risks and constraints.
- Liaise with Project Managers, engineers, clients and Defence stakeholders.
- Review drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and workmanship.
- Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and daily documentation.
- Support inspections, testing, commissioning and project handover.
The contractor has delivered a range of Defence projects including accommodation refurbishment at RAAF Townsville, facilities upgrades at HMAS Cairns, range compliance works at Greenbank Training Area, pavement and drainage upgrades at Wide Bay Training Area, and building remediation and maintenance works at Oakey.
The projects demonstrate experience working across live Defence environments, including refurbishment, civil works, infrastructure, training areas and operational facilities. The successful Site Supervisor will be expected to bring the same level of site coordination, compliance and stakeholder management to current and upcoming projects.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience as a Site Supervisor, Site Manager or similar.
- Defence industry experience is highly desirable and preferred.
- Experience delivering projects in the $500K-$5M range.
- Strong understanding of construction site operations and subcontractor management.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and project documentation.
- Strong understanding of WHS, quality and environmental requirements.
- Experience working on live or operational sites.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality delivery.
