Gomaco GP3 & Gomaco 9500 | FIFO 4/1 | Nightshift Only | Dry season start
We are seeking high‑competency Slip Form Paver Operators for a major apron reconstruction package at RAAF Base Darwin . This is a Defence‑site, nightshift‑only operation on a 4:1 FIFO roster , with accommodation supplied and approximately 9 months of continuous production paving .

Scope of Works
Operators will be engaged in high‑precision concrete paving for Defence aviation pavements, including apron slabs, taxi lanes and associated hardstand areas. Production will involve continuous paving runs, tight level control, and strict adherence to Defence specifications and QA requirements.
Technical Responsibilities
- Operate the Gomaco GP3 for wide‑slab apron paving, including setup, calibration and production operation
- Run the Gomaco 9500 Trimmer/Placer to prepare sub‑base and place material ahead of the paver
- Maintain Trimble UTS / 3D machine control for grade, alignment and crossfall accuracy
- Monitor paving parameters including vibrator frequency, slump consistency, edge integrity and machine speed
- Conduct daily pre‑starts, minor mechanical adjustments and troubleshooting to maintain continuous paving cycles
- Work within a coordinated paving crew to maintain uninterrupted production and meet slab continuity requirements
- Comply with Defence‑site access protocols, QA documentation, ITPs and safety procedures
Required Experience
- 3-5 years' experience operating slip form paving equipment on major civil or aviation projects
- Demonstrated capability with Trimble UTS / 3D systems , including setup, calibration and live adjustments
- Experience with high‑tolerance paving environments (airport, Defence, RMS/DTMR, or large‑scale industrial slabs)
- Ability to work nightshift only for the full project duration
- Must be able to obtain a National Police Check for Defence‑site access
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of paver/trimmer operational limits
